Scripture and prayers from the 8th grade
Grace School is on spring break this week, but students will return to their online classrooms on Tuesday, March 31. Last week, in an e-religion class, Lisa Wolfanger asked her 8th graders to share a favorite Bible verse, to comment on friends' choices, and to write prayers.
Here are some of the verses and prayers they shared. We hope they're a blessing to you in these challenging days.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
[This verse] gives me hope and reminds me to trust in God and put my faith in him.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I have loved this verse ever since I was little. Whenever I hear it I always remember that even when I am struggling, God is always there for me to get me through those hard times.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
I like your verse because it emphasizes how much we need peace in our lives, and I found the part about not holding fear in our hearts very important because we shouldn’t live our lives in fear, rather in love and compassion.
Dear God,
Thank you for helping us through this hard and unknown time. Please help us to recognize our blessings, even now, and continue to protect us. Please heal those who have coronavirus by settling their minds and spirits.
Amen.
Dear Lord,
Please watch over all of us in these confusing times. Heal those who are sick with the virus and may they regain their strength and health. Watch over those who are scared, please show them your ways and guide them to your light.
Amen
