"Home for the Holidays"
Luke 1:26-38
Choosing a home in which to live is one of the most personal decisions we ever make. We want to make sure it is the type of place in which we will be comfortable, a place in which we can see ourselves living out our dreams, raising our children, growing old in comfort. We sometimes make the mistake, however, of assuming that we also get to decide where God will dwell. This was the mistake made by King David. He assumed that the Lord God had grown weary of the tabernacle and was ready for a temple. But we don’t get to choose where God will make a home. Today we hear of God choosing the most surprising residence of all: the womb of a virgin named Mary.
