"Hearts Rekindled With Hope"
Luke 24:13-35
We had hoped. We had hoped we wouldn’t be separated for so long; that we’d be able to see our loved ones; that we would have found a vaccine, a cure, anything by now. We had hoped but so far our hopes have not materialized. As we journey through this time, however, we do not do so alone. We find ourselves today on the Emmaus Road with Cleopas and the other disciple. They are going home, dejected. They had hoped, but no more. Then, a stranger starts walking with them. It’s not until they reach their home and break bread together that they realize it was Jesus all along. Even on this long road, Jesus is with us. We might not always discern his presence, but Jesus is with us. And he will get us where we need to go.
