Prayer of the Day
Almighty God, your only Son was taken into the heavens and in your presence intercedes for us. Receive us and our prayers for all the world, and in the end bring everything into your glory, through Jesus Christ, our Sovereign and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

"In-Between Prayers"
John 17:1-11; Acts 1:6-14
Today is an in-between Sunday. We find ourselves in the Upper Room with Jesus’ disciples. They have seen Jesus ascend into heaven, but they have not yet received the promised Holy Spirit. What do they do? They pray. The reading from John takes us back to the night before Jesus’ death. He is preparing to leave his disciples, first to enter death, then to return to his Father. What does he do? He prays. We live in an in-between time. We remember the time before the coronavirus arrived. We look for, hope for, an end to the pandemic and a return to a new normal. What do we do in this time? We pray. Jesus prays that we will be united and protected. By the grace of his prayer and in the power of the Spirit that has now come, we work for unity and protection in the world, to the glory of the risen Christ.
