"Believing Without Seeing"
John 20:19-31
Poor Thomas. We don’t know why he wasn’t with the others on that first Easter when Jesus appeared to them. He doubts their account; who can blame him? And yet he is known ever after as “Doubting Thomas.” I have my own doubts. My own fears, anxieties. Voices from within and without that seek to undermine my trust in God. All of these are heightened during the pandemic. Like Thomas, I would love for Jesus to just show up! I would love to see him, and I would love to see all of you. Still, Jesus’ loving promise remains: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” You don’t have to get rid of your doubts. Just keep clinging to Christ anyway.
