Prayer of the Day
O Lord God, you teach us that without love, our actions gain nothing. Pour into our hearts your most excellent gift of love, that, made alive by your Spirit, we may know goodness and peace, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Sermon
"What Time is It?"
John 13:31-35

I have a difficult time keeping track of time. There always seems to be not quite enough time to go around. Deadlines loom. Work calendars and family calendars threaten to overwhelm each other. I often wonder just what, exactly, is the right thing for me to be doing at any one particular moment. Our readings today move us through time. In the gospel reading, we’re back on Maundy Thursday, in the Upper Room with Jesus. In Acts, we’re on the road with Peter, as the Spirit reveals the new thing that God is doing in Christ. In Revelation, we’re transported to the future, gathered around the throne. Our lives are bracketed by these things, for we live between resurrection and resurrection, Jesus’ and our own. The promise is that we will have all the time, world without end. So what do we do in this moment? We stand with Peter, and watch the Spirit knock down barriers. We listen to Jesus. Now is the time to love, and to do so as Jesus loves us.

Adult Education

 “Forgiveness”
Julie Hinz

Forgiveness. Hard to give and yet we crave it for ourselves from each other and from God. It requires us to set aside ego and ask for it, or to look past our own hurts and offer it. In these two sessions we will explore what forgiveness is, what God and scripture command of us, how we fall short, and how we can see forgiveness and the act of forgiving as gifts we can offer each other and the world. In this sacred space, we will listen, share, and prayerfully explore what healthy, God-fearing forgiveness and reconciliation can look like in our lives.
(Two sessions, May 12 and 19, Seminar Room)
