Prayer of the Day
O God, with steadfast love you draw us to yourself, and in mercy you receive our prayers. Strengthen us to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit, that through life and death we may live in your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Sermon
"Drawn to the Cross"
John 12:20-33; Jeremiah 31:31-34
We wish to see! There are many things we’d love to see more clearly, to know more certainly. When will the pandemic finally end? When will life get back to normal? When will meaningful employment return, or illness go away? We want to see answers to these questions. Perhaps similar questions were on the hearts and minds of these Greeks who wished to see Jesus. Surely this rabbi would give them clarity! Jesus declines to even meet with them, pointing instead to the cross that waits for him. Do you want to see clearly? Look to Christ on his cross, and see the full revelation of God’s love for this world, written now even on our hearts. We don’t always get the answers we want; the future is not always for us to know. But when we look to the cross, we behold the love of God that holds us in all things.
