Prayer of the Day
You are great, O God, and greatly to be praised. You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you. Grant that we may believe in you, call upon you, know you, and serve you, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

"You That Are Weary"
Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30
Anyone tired of 2020 yet? This year has been unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetimes. We are tired of the pandemic and just want it to be over. We are weary, knowing that our work for justice and equality has so far fallen short. We celebrate our nation on this holiday weekend, but we know not all is as it should be. We are tired. And that’s okay. Jesus, in some of his most comforting words, invites us to rest. In the grace that conquers death, we can rest. But rest does not mean giving up. Rest does not mean ceasing our struggle. Jesus lays his yoke upon us. It is easy and light, and it helps us keep going. There is work yet to do. Don’t give up! But rest, safe and secure in the knowledge that Jesus has already done the heavy lifting. All we need to do is follow him.
