Prayer of the Day
O God, on this day you revealed your Son to the nations by the leading of a star. Lead us now by faith to know your presence in our lives, and bring us at last to the full vision of your glory, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Sermon
"Rise and Shine"
Isaiah 60:1-6; Matthew 2:1-12
The days are short this time of year. The dark of night lasts longer. But it does not last forever. The sun rises each day, chasing away the gloom and calling us back to life. During this winter, things have seemed particularly dark. The night, however, does not last forever. The promise of Isaiah has been fulfilled in the coming of Christ. The glory of which the angels first sang over Bethlehem has burst forth fully in the resurrection. Jesus’ light shines for us in dark places and calls us back to life. With the Magi, let us seek the light and the life of Christ in this new year, placing our lives in his praise and service.
