Prayer of the Day
O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin, that we may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

"Which Way Did He Go?"
Mark 16:1-8
They knew exactly where he was. The women had seen Jesus’ body placed in the tomb. So while they went without hope, mired in sorrow, at least they went with certainty. But there he wasn’t. Instead, a messenger: “Do not be alarmed. He has been raised; he is not here.” These women, brave and faithful, are shaken to their core. They flee in fear, and who can blame them? The upside-downing of the world has finally happened. We are so used to bad news that good news can be hard to hear. The announcement this morning is that Jesus is alive, and this means that he is not to be found in the broken, unhappy endings of this life. Make no mistake, he joins us in our grief. He has lived it. He has died by it. But he does not leave us there. We have lost so much, but now by the grace of God the one sure thing is lost to us forever. Death is no more. Look not for Christ here. He has gone on ahead. Blinking in the new morn’s bright sun, we follow.
