Sermon
"Spirit-Filled and Spirit-Sent"
The Holy Spirit is upon us, and we celebrate the birth of the Church on this Day of Pentecost! This morning we hear the Word proclaimed through the witnesses of four 2019 high school graduates. These young women have prayerfully considered the work of the Holy Spirit in each of their lives —through both difficult and joyful moments — and we receive the gift of their faithful words and ponder our own experiences of the Spirit's movement in our lives. In ways both obvious and obscure, the Holy Spirit calls, empowers, and sends us for mission in the name of Jesus Christ. With this gift of the ever-present One, we are forever united in the power of the risen Jesus, and we know we are never alone. As we celebrate the gifts of our young people this morning, we are truly celebrating the gift and witness of the Church of all ages!
