Prayer of the Day
O God, our true life, to serve you is freedom, and to know you is unending joy. We worship you, we glorify you, we give thanks to you for your great glory. Abide with us, reign in us, and make this world into a fit habitation for your divine majesty, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Scripture readings
Jeremiah 23:1-6
Psalm 46:1-11
Colossians 1:11-20
Luke 23:33-43

Sermon
"Thine is the Kingdom"
“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done.” “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and glory.” Components of a prayer almost every Christian around the world can immediately recall are words that often slip by our consciousness. Do we really want God’s kingdom to come? Is God’s will truly a guiding force in our lives? Are we truly ready to let our sense of security, power, dominion, and glory go in favor of some abstract theological claim? These questions may seem scandalous to those of us in the pews of our churches week after week – but they are worthy of reflection nonetheless. Christ the King Sunday was created by Pope Pius XI in 1925 in response to growing secularism and nationalism. Sound familiar? Now, and in all times, we are called to reflect upon how God in Christ’s rule is truly something  we should pray comes soon, and we should recognize how that very same call propels us into the world to participate in it.
