Prayer of the Day
O God of power and might, your Son shows us the way of service, and in him we inherit the riches of your grace. Give us the wisdom to know what is right and the strength to serve the world you have made, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

"Goats in Need of the Lamb"
Matthew 25:31-46
What a Sunday to install an associate pastor! We find ourselves parabolically projected into the heavenly throne room. Here we see Christ as king and judge, separating sheep from goats, righteous from sinful, saved from damned. This parable is why we need a preacher! While there may be worse goats out there in the world, none of us can rightly claim a place among the sheep. Not by our own works. We’ve failed too often. But Jesus will not forsake his flock. Deserving judgment, the Word proclaimed grants us mercy and grace. By the blood of the Lamb, we are goats no longer. As sheep, however, we are meant to live like it. Christ the King tells us where his reign is active. Go, and find Christ among the hungry and thirsty, the stranger and naked, the sick and imprisoned.
