Prayer of the Day
Almighty and ever-living God, you anointed your beloved Son to be priest and sovereign forever. Grant that all the people of the earth, now divided by the power of sin, may be united by the glorious and gentle rule of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Sermon
"Reigning Rampant"
John 18:33-37
Immediately preceding Advent and the preparation for Christ the child, we celebrate Christ the King. Today, the last Sunday of the church year, Christ's reign is given full focus in our readings. We hear of his full dominion and glory and kingship over all peoples, nations, and languages. We hear of how he has made us to be a kingdom, priests serving God along with him. And we hear Christ the King questioned and challenged by Pilate, to whom Christ offers a simple response: "My kingdom is not from this world." With power that is unchecked and unbounded, our King Jesus defies all the rules and limits that the world tries to place on him. With love that is relentless and infinite, our King Jesus has drawn us into the kingdom that reigns rampant with mercy, peace, and life abundant.
