Sermon
"Who Touched Me?"
A miracle encapsulated by another miracle, we hear this week how touch leads to healing. But the circumstances of the miracles could not be more different. The woman on the street was most likely poor, a nobody, without status, and without advocacy. The young girl was likely from a wealthy family, a somebody with high status, and with a father who pleads on her behalf. Yet both are healed immediately. The gospel writer’s primary objective in pairing these two stories is clear: God in Christ’s great reversal of the world’s expectations does not leave anyone out.
