Prayer of the Day
O Lord God, tireless guardian of your people, you are always ready to hear our cries. Teach us to rely day and night on your care. Inspire us to seek your enduring justice for all this suffering world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Scripture readings
Genesis 32:22-31
Psalm 121
2 Timothy 3:14--4:5
Luke 18:1-8

Sermon
"God-Breathed"
2 Timothy 3:14-4:5
imothy is reminded that scripture is inspired by God and is useful in instructing and equipping Christians for meaningful discipleship in the world. Scripture is “God-breathed,” a more literal translation of inspired. It calls to mind breath hovering over the formless void at creation. It recollects the Spirit breathed onto and into the first disciples and, indeed, us. With strong and faithful financial giving commitments made this Faith Promise Sunday, we respond with joy and hope to the manifold ways in which God in Christ through the Spirit has equipped Grace to carry out ministry for the sake of the Gospel.

"The Banality of Grace" with Pastor Bruce Modahl
Grace's former Senior Pastor, Bruce Modahl, will present material from his new book “The Banality of Grace.” He says, “We can usually muster the courage to live faithfully through the momentous events in our lives. Courage falters in the details of the day. So, it is in the daily, the mundane, pedestrian, prosaic, quotidian, and even banal that God shows us our place in God’s momentous story.” Books will be available at the session.

Schedule for Adult Ed in October

The Sunday morning Bible study group meets in the conference room.

The Grace Church Library is open and staffed on Sundays from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Look for books related to Adult Ed topics as well as many other subjects. The library is also open for self-service during the week.
