We Are Because Christ Is
Matthew 16:13-20; Romans 12:1-8
“Who do you say that I am?” Jesus asks this question of his disciples. He asks it, too, of us. This world seeks to conform us to itself, bombarding us with voices that tell us it is up to us to become who we are. While this sounds inviting, it becomes a relentless demand. The voice of the gospel cuts through the clatter. God is transforming us through the renewal of our minds. With Peter, and by the Spirit’s power and grace, we declare that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God. In him, we receive our identity as forgiven sinners, resurrected saints, and beloved children of God. And that’s a rock upon which you can build a life.
