Sermon

"Fed and Fearless"
John 6:1-21
This morning we begin a five-week journey through John 6, focusing of the feeding of the 5,000 and Jesus’ proclamation that he is the Bread of Life. Five weeks on the 5,000 fed! It seems like a lot, but there’s a lot going on here. Today the stage is set. The crowds keep following Jesus, but in their eagerness they forgot to pack a lunch. Except for the fish and loaves in one boy’s lunchbox. But what are they among so many? It turns out that, in Jesus’ presence, these gifts are more than enough. We are pointed toward the new Passover, the new meal for God’s people on the go. And on the go we are, carried by Jesus’ promise that we will get to the other side. Fed by Jesus, and in his presence, there is nothing left for us to fear.

Adult Education

Faith on the Daily
Pastor Lauren Wegner
Our weekdays are full of tasks, frustrations, victories, and the maintenance of relationships and ourselves. Often, it seems that Sunday morning doesn't really connect with the rest of our week. Join us as we explore where and how God is present with us in our daily, even routine experiences. From brushing our teeth, to riding the train in to work, to sipping coffee with a friend, to carrying a child on our hip, we are constantly living a spiritual life. How can we attend to the gift of our spiritual lives in meaningful, daily practice? How does our baptism and our identity as Christians mark our every day? If you attended last summer's Adult Education session with Pastor Lauren, this will be both a refresher and a continuation of that conversation about our awareness and cultivation of our spiritual lives in the midst of the ordinary, the mundane, and the routine.

Download the Adult Ed schedule for July-August 2018.

The Sunday morning Bible study group meets in the Seminar Room on the lower level.

The Grace Church Library is open and staffed on Sundays from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Look for books related to Adult Ed topics as well as many other subjects. The library is also open for self-service during the week.
